The world is full of noise. Few disciplines are as exposed to noise as ours; everything that has to do with people at work.
We strongly recommend the book “Noise”, written by Daniel Kahneman, Olivier Sibony, and Cass R. Sunstein. These three give us insight into what noise is, how detrimental it can be for us, why we are so affected by it, and what we can do to make better decisions. They have included many relevant examples related to strategic HR, but in so doing also expose that they lack an updated understanding of fundamental human drivers. Maybe to be included in the next book?
Daniel Kahneman is the psychologist who received the “Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences” in 2002, and impressed us with the book “Thinking, Fast and Slow” 10 years ago.
